Kenny Plotnik is a 45-year veteran of broadcast media and the television news industry. Most recently, Plotnik built an NBC Owned Station News Department in Boston from the ground up and successfully launched the only news triopoly in the country in January 2017.

 

Currently, Kenny Plotnik is President and Owner of KennyPlotnik.Com, a coaching company. Plotnik’s goal is to help discover and develop the future journalists.  Kenny has worked with news departments at network and cable affiliates around the country, assisting in their recruitment efforts.

 

From 2002-2012, Plotnik served as the leader of the number 1 local news station in the country, Disney’s WABC-TV/New York.  He managed a 200-person staff and a $50 million budget.  As Vice President of Eyewitness News, the station was awarded prestigious journalism honors for outstanding reporting and production including the Edward R. Murrow, Dupont and Associated Press awards.  Under Kenny’s stewardship, WABC also received the coveted Peabody award for its 9-11 coverage.

 

Following his highly successful run in New York, Kenny was appointed Vice President & News Director of NBC 10 Boston, NECN and Telemundo Boston. He was tasked to build an Owned Television Station News Department from the ground up. He led the development of newsroom systems, built the largest weather team of Meteorologists in the city and hired and trained more than 65 journalists. On January 1, 2017, Plotnik successfully launched the only news tri-opoly in the country, NBC Boston, Telemundo New England and a revamped New England Cable News, NECN.

Plotnik began his career at radio and tv stations in Western NY while majoring  in Psychology at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Plotnik received his bachelor’s degree in 1975. Plotnik and his wife Felice, a retired Registered Nurse, call the Catskill Mountains area their home.  They have 2 sons and are now very proud grandparents of 2 fabulous boys.
